STAND by for a lot of that mass squealing only teenage girls are capable of. American teen sensation Zac Efron is heading to Australia.
He will be here in October to host the 2007 Nickelodeon Australian Kids Choice Awards.
The all-singing, all-dancing, floppy-haired star of the film Hairspray will appear onstage alongside Australia’s own tween favourites, the Veronicas.
Efron, 19, was the star of the mega-popular kids movie High School Musical, and its sequel, before landing the role in Hairspray.
Efron will take on centre-stage duties at the October 10 awards ceremony in Sydney, which is famed for humiliating star guests with buckets of green slime.
“I’m so excited to be coming to Australia to host Nick’s Kids Choice Awards,” Efron said.
“I can’t wait to get down there and slime all the Aussie kids — it’s going to be a blast.”
Efron, who says he loves Australia so much he wants to buy a house here, is also due in Sydney on September 5 for the premiere of Hairspray.
Based on the 1988 John Waters cult classic film and Broadway musical, the remake features an all-star cast, including Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Queen Latifah, and John Travolta.
